Job Announcement: Executive Director
Scott’s Run Settlement House of Monongalia County, WV, is seeking an Executive Director. This United Methodist affiliated ministry provides multiple services to low income residents in Monongalia County. The position requires someone responsible for the overall operations of a nonprofit agency. Advanced skills in planning, developing, analyzing, and evaluating a wide range of financial, administrative and managerial functions are essential. The Executive Director is expected to facilitate the daily operations adhering to the mission statement and goals of the organization. The position also requires providing the Board of Directors with timely recommendations and advice to enable the Board to make informed decisions. The Executive Director must exercise initiative and independent judgment and work effectively with the Board of Directors, employees, volunteers, the public and members of other community agencies and organizations.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree and three years professional experience, strong program development and grant writing skills. The position requires some physical exertion such as lifting up to 20 pounds and climbing stairs. An understanding and appreciation of the United Methodist Church structure and faith statements as well as an awareness of the issues causing hunger and poverty will be helpful. Effective communication skills, confidence, a desire to help the needy, and strategic thinking abilities are essential. Local residency and some travel within and outside the service area, including surrounding States are also required.
