SEASONAL PROJECTS

Back to School Supply Giveaway  

Through the generous donations from churches, groups and individuals, SRSH is able to assist low income families in receiving school supplies and backpacks for their school-age children. In 2006 alone, 547 students were served by this program.

Thanksgiving Basket Program

All the essentials for a Thanksgiving meal are donated by churches, groups and individuals. For Thanksgiving 2006, 345 families (1154 people) were served.

Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program

Lower income families are 'adopted' by churches, businesses, families, and individuals during the Christmas season. Sponsors buy Christmas gifts for the entire family. In 2006, 113 families were ' adopted', benefiting 431 people.

Community Gardens

Intergenerational project involving preschool, school age youth and seniors who work together to harvest fresh vegetables from gardens located at designated senior centers. Half of the produce harvest is donated to the SRSH Food Pantry. On average, 10 youth and 15 seniors work in the gardens each year.
