BACKGROUND:
Scott’s Run Settlement House, established in 1922 by the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Church, is one of Monongalia County, WV's oldest and largest service organizations. Having transitioned to a 501(c)3, the organization has, for over a decade, primarily addressed food insecurity within the county and surrounding areas. We are dedicated to serving thousands of our neighbors annually by providing essential necessities with kindness, dignity, and respect.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Executive Director is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the organization’s daily operations and seasonal programs. This role includes managing staff and volunteers, administering funding and budget, and collaborating with the Board of Directors to effectively implement the organization's strategic vision.
REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of eight (8) years of combined education and experience are preferred.

Demonstrated experience in leadership and comprehensive knowledge of non-profit organizational management.

Ability and willingness to repeatedly lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.

Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Ability and willingness to operate work vehicles for product procurement and deliveries.

Ability and willingness to participate in daily operations as needed during emergencies, with a minimum of once per month. This is a shared, occasional task designed to foster teamwork and maintain operational understanding, and it is not intended to supersede or diminish the core responsibilities of the Executive Director.

Excellent public speaking skills and a demonstrated comfort in interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

A flexible schedule, accommodating occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.

Proven grant writing experience or exceptional writing skills.

Experience with meticulous record-keeping.

Gather, organize, analyze, and present program data effectively.

Ability to use stairs daily.

Maintain an organized workspace and a professional public appearance.

Work cohesively and collaboratively with volunteers and staff.

Maintain a positive rapport with clients, volunteers, and donors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborate with the Board, staff, persons served, and community stakeholders to plan and continuously evaluate programs that meet the evolving needs of the community.

Serve as the chief executive of the staff and organization, providing leadership to the Board.

Attend and contribute to bimonthly board meetings and monthly committee meetings, frequently held outside of standard business hours.

Identify, write, and submit grants on behalf of the organization to secure program funding.

Responsible for the facilitation of new and existing fundraising initiatives, donor recruitment, and securing diverse funding sources.

Approve time sheets and payroll.

Conduct employee performance evaluations, identify opportunities for growth, and oversee professional development for staff.

Complete annual program evaluations and present findings and recommendations for change to the Board of Directors.

Develop and maintain a robust volunteer program.
-
Recommend policies to the Board for program and operational execution; implement and administer the policies established by the Board.

Maintain effective communication with the Board of Directors and work collaboratively with all committees.

Interpret community needs and agency programs.
-
Employ, supervise, and, when necessary, dismiss all staff in accordance with personnel policy guidelines.

Attend and/or speak on behalf of Scott’s Run Settlement House at various meetings and to partner organizations, which may require travel and occur outside of normal business hours.

Plan and administer the budget in conjunction with the Board of Directors and oversee the expenditure of agency funds.

Develop and sustain productive working relationships with other community and church agencies and programs.
-
Interpret the work of the agency to the community and to supporting groups.
Maintain awareness of the organization's affiliation with The United Methodist Church, United Way, Empty Bowls, and other partner organizations, at all levels.

Maintain the positive reputation of SRSH through strategic outreach and relationship building.

Perform other duties as assigned.
